Ballet Methods and Techniques

You're going to find a variety of different ballet methods and techniques. Even among basic ballet steps. Many are going to be grouped by country and you'll find Russian ballet, Italian ballet, French ballet and even English ballet. All have different methods and techniques, although similar in end result. These different training methods emerged through regional deviations, even though the core of the language and technique is the same throughout the world.

Many of these techniques and methods are named after prima ballerina dancers or performers that actually develop them. In Russia, you'll find two different techniques, the Vagonova method, and the Legat method. Both of these methods were named after specific instructors or dancers, and you can even find the Ceccheti method, an Italian ballet method, named from Enrico Cecchetti, a famous Italian Ballet dancer. Bournonville method was actually developed in Coppenhagen by August Bournonville and is often seen in European classes.

The Balanchine method was designed by George Balanchine, a famous choreographer in America. Any student who's interested in learning the Balanchine method would enjoy intense speed and deep plies with a heavy accent on the lines particularly in that the decale. Anyone who's interested in the Balanchine method must be tall, slim, supple and extremely fit.

The Bournonville is developed from the Royal Danish ballet by August Bournonville and emphasizes the use of arms in its particular style of dance.

If you're looking for complex musical beats along with the emphasis of precision, sobriety, elegance and extreme meticulous technical cleanliness you're looking for the French ballet.

The Russian ballet that features the Cecchetti method from Enrico Cecchetti is looking for a very precise system within the classical ballet technique. It's unbending training system that includes balance, strength, poise, elevation and of course the elasticity and flexibility. Internalization of the basic ideas, idioms and principles allows the dancer to understand discipline and independent performance along with classic style.

Agrippina Vaganova from the Imperial ballet founded the Vaganova method. This particular method is looking to develop the lower back muscles and strength as well as arm flexibility and endurance.

These methods are extremely classic and have been used for years. New methods and techniques are being developed on a regular basis from prima donnas and those who practice ballet on a regular basis. Different training methods, different techniques, and different methods are all incorporated to increase the precision and grace of ballet movements. It doesn't really matter which method you practice within the ballet techniques used in your ballet class, it's the end result of one of the oldest dances in the world of strength, grace, and flexibility. Ballet, like any other dance form is innovative, and is metamorphosing with the times. You'll find new methods, new ballets, and new instructors developing new techniques all looking for the same end result.
